Attorney Eric Korth is named the KCMBA 2026 Young Lawyer of the Year

Eric was named the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association 2026 Young Lawyer of the Year, which recognizes a lawyer under the age of 36 for significant community, civic, and professional work.  This award is given to a lawyer who has contributed significant work toward public service programs and developed innovative activities which have enhanced the community, promoted the highest standards of professionalism, competence and ethical conduct, improved the image and promoted positive public awareness of the legal profession in the community, and achieved substantial success and accomplishment in the legal profession.

Eric was presented with the award at the annual Bench Bar and Boardroom Conference.

Phyllis Norman Named to KCBJ's "Best of the Bar"

Razor RipSticks Recalled After More Than 700 Incidents

Razor has issued a recall on its RipStik electric motorized caster boards due to a fall hazard posed to consumers. "The rear wheel can stop rotating and lock up while in use, posing a fall hazard," says the recall. About 158,000 of the RipStiks were sold at Target, Toys R Us, Walmart, and other stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com, Razor.com, Target.com, toysrus.com and Walmart.com and other websites from February 2016 through April 2017. There have been 700 reports of the rear wheel locking up while in use. 

Federal Lawsuit Launched After Death Of A Nursing Home Resident Linked To Abuse

A nursing home faces a federal lawsuit over records in connection to a man who died while staying at the facility.  The Michigan Protection and Advocacy Service -- a state-appointed group assigned to investigate allegations of abuse and neglect against people with disabilities -- has filed a lawsuit against Medilodge of Grand Blanc after receiving a complaint regarding a patient's care.

Electric Blowers Recalled After 10,000 Incident Reports

One World has issued a recall on Ryobi Electric Jet Fan Blowers due to a laceration hazard. "The plastic fan inside the blower can break causing the fan blades to be discharged from either end of the blower tube, posing a laceration hazard," states the recall. There were about 121,000 of the blowers sold exclusively at Home Depot stores in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. There have been 10,681 incident reports, involving 25 reports of minor injuries.

Takata Agrees To $1 Billion Plea Deal To Settle Airbag Case- Where Does That Leave Consumers?

Japanese auto supplier Takata, one of the world's largest automotive suppliers, pleaded guilty Monday as a corporation in federal court, agreed to a $1 billion plea deal and told a federal judge its behavior over a 15-year period was "deeply inappropriate."

Britax Recalls More Than 700,000 Strollers Due To Fall Hazard

The company has received 33 reports of car seats detaching from the stroller without warning and falling. There have been 26 injuries reported including scratches, bruises, cuts and bumps to the head. There have been 1,337 reports of damage to the Click & Go receiver mount used to connect the car seats to the strollers.

Class Action Filed Against PayPal's Charitable Giving Fund

On February 28, 2017, a punitive class action lawsuit was filed against popular online payment processing company, PayPal, alleging that the company’s PayPal Giving Fund does not actually deliver donated funds to customer’s pre-selected charities unless the charity has already set up a PayPal account.
